Softball in a new program to our league. We can only have a softball league if we have players register. To ensure we have a divsion for softball registration numbers have to be higher then 30 in each age group. We also need a VP of this divisions. If you are interested in the VP position please attend one of our meetings held the first and third Wednesday of every month except Dec. and July for holdiday weeks. July through March meetings start at 7 pm and April through June meets start at 8:30 pm. Meetings are held in our office at the field.
Little League has a Little League Bat Requirement.
Softball Coach Pitch (6, 7 & 8 year olds)
This division introduces hitting a pitched ball from a coach. Players start to understand the concepts of running bases and batting. The focus is still on having fun. This is a non-competitive division and no score is kept. The focus of Coach Pitch is to teach children the fundamentals of baseball. All players are provided with a team shirt, pants, baseball cap, and socks. Bats and helmets are provided by the league. A softball glove is REQUIRED to participate and is NOT provided by the league. Cleats are recommended.
Games are played twice per week; one during the week starting at 6 p.m. and one on Saturdays. Saturday field times start at 9:00 a.m. and are scheduled throughout the day depending on the number of teams we have registered. Games are only scheduled on Sundays if the league needs to move them due to an event in the city or weather. There will be a two-hour limit on Saturday games. Week night games end when either 6 innings have been completed of the Fort Avenue street lights come on. The field time is 1.5 hours.
$100 All players are provided with a team shirt, pants, baseball cap, and socks. Bats and helmets are provided by the league. A softball glove is REQUIRED to participate and is NOT provided by the league. Cleats are recommended.

Team / Coach Expectations
Teams will have no more than 12 players
Each team may have a manager, 2 coaches, and a dugout parent.
The above mentioned people will wear a badge identifying they have had a background check and are able to be on the field with the kids. In the event that one of the aforementioned people are not present at a game, a manager may come in to the office and request to utilize a parent to help
Any adult helping with the team must have completed a volunteer form and submitted to a background check
The request will be granted provided the parent has submitted to a background check and a temporary badge will be issued for that game only; the badge must be turned in at the end of the game.
Managers/coaches must complete a team lineup sheet and turn it in at the end of each game
Sheets should be filled out with the first initial and last name of each player; players present will be at the top of the lineup sheet and those absent will be at the bottom of the sheet with absent next to their name
There must be 1 adult in the dugout with players at all times
Managers / coaches must complete an accident form at the end of any game in which an accident occurs resulting in an injury.
Players not able to make a scheduled game must contact the manager/coach to let them know of their absence
Players may bring water or sports drinks into the dugout; there is NO food or soda allowed in the dugouts
All players may go to the concession stand at the end of each game to receive a free drink
Only players and the assigned adult may be in the dugout area; no spectators allowed
Teams will play 1 weeknight game and 1 Saturday game; game time shall be 6:00 p.m. on weeknights. Saturday games will be played at the time the schedule indicates

Outs will be played and kids do not stop at first base automatically
Games will be played regardless of the amount of players present
If teams are drastically unbalanced, the players in attendance (from both teams ) shall be divided into 2 teams and play shall go on

Situation Play Rules
A player shall receive 5 pitches.
Fielders shall try to make an out.
Outs are recorded when a batted ball is caught by a defensive player while still in the air, when a defensive player reaches the base with ball in possession and tags such base before the batter reaches the base, or when a batter is tagged out by a defensive player (with ball in possession) before reaching a base
Continuous batting order shall be in effect; the offensive team (team batting) shall continue to bat until each player has batted or until 3 outs are made
There is no stealing in this division
All plays on the ball must be made by team players; no coach may field a ball
Fielding positions shall be: pitcher, catcher, 1st base, 2nd base, third base, shortstop, right field, center field, and left field
If fewer than 9 players are in attendance, you may eliminate positions in the order of catcher, pitcher, and outfield positions
If there is a player in the catcher position, coaches must make sure that the catcher remains a distance behind the batter that will prevent he/she from being hit with the bat
At the end of each game, both teams shall line up on either side of home plate and go through a line shaking hands.
The teams should make sure their dugout is clean and help make sure the surrounding area is clean as well. The home team is responsible for removing all trash in both dugouts and on field.
Softball Majors (9, 10, 11, & 12 year old girls)
This division is a more competitive league. Players are pitching. These players will build on development as well as competitiveness.
There will be practices per week at the discretion of the coach. Two games are played per week; one during the week starting at 6 PM and one on Saturday. Saturday field times start at 9:00 a.m. and are scheduled throughout the day depending on the number of teams we have registered. Games are only scheduled on Sundays if the league needs to move them due to an event in the city, schedule a make-up game, or weather. Field time is set for 3 hours.
The season typically runs from early March through end of school in June. All players league age 8 or older may be eligible to be selected to an ALL-STAR TEAM. All Star Teams travel and play in the Maryland District 4 tournament. The teams that win the All-Star District tournaments will advance to the next level.
$135 All players will be provided with team shirt, baseball pants, hat, socks, and belts. Bats, helmets, and catching gear are provided by the league. A softball glove is required to participate and is NOT provided by the league. Cleats are recommended for players.
